How to be happy

Look around you. Look around when you walk along the streets floating through this journey of life. Look around when you stop at a restaurant to get nourished by your favourite meal. Look around when you travel in the jam packed public transport making your way to your destination. You will see so many smiling faces. Are the smiles genuine? Are the people that look happy actually happy? We don’t know.

Just as you notice the faces of strangers as you pass by each day, they notice you too. They see your emotions as they pass you by. A slight smile with a stranger on the road will give them an impression of a “happy”, “nice” person. So the bigger question is, are you?

So many people will answer this as a “no”. However, if you ask me the truth is I am! I know a lot of people judge me for who I am. They judge me for being “me”, but that doesn’t matter to me. It doesn’t matter if someone thinks I’m an angel, it doesn’t matter if someone else thinks I’m a devil. It doesn’t matter if you think I’m good or bad because none of that affects me. I have learnt the hard way, how to stand up on my own feet n watch my own back. I have learnt how to bounce off the negativity and embrace the positivity I get from other people and situations.

I have learnt how to be happy no matter what the situation is. I have learnt how to ensure nothing affects me no matter what the situation is. Simply, I have learnt to enjoy and embrace my individuality no matter what others think of me, and this is the key to happiness. This is why no matter what you say or do I will always smile. I will smile at that stranger on the road. I will smile with my friends and family, cracking a joke, making people laugh. I will even smile at myself in the mirror, simply because no matter who accepts me or not, I have accepted myself exactly for who I am.

Therefore, no matter what you think of me, I will always be me and I will always be happy that I am no one but myself!
